Shelby's Inc.

Shelby's has been part of the Harrison community for 35 years now. We started on the west side of the Harrison square, buying the Party House from Katherine and Spike Cavender. Now we are located just off the square at 215 N. Main Street. Our hard working, friendly staff is the main reason for our continuous success. Everyone here at the store is dedicated to providing our customers with an outstanding level of service, knowledge and assistance. We strive to exceed your expectations whenever possible. Shelbys is a specialty shop of gourmet cookware and baking essentials, home and garden décor, baby clothing and many other wonderful gift ideas for your special someone. Many people in town believe that Shelby's is a staple to the Harrison community. They have included gifts from our store in many of the major moments in their lives; such as, birthdays, weddings, new homes, babies, and countless other special occasions. We have enriched the lives of each person that has come into our store over the past 35 years and have given Harrison a local business for which it can be proud. Where is Shelby's located?We are just off the Harrison square at 215 N. Main Street.When is Shelby's open?Our business hours are Monday through Friday 9am to 5:30pm and Saturday 10am to 4pm. We are closed on Sunday.Can I order online? Yes and no. The Shelby's Inc. website is still under construction and is not ready for taking orders via internet. However, if you are looking to purchase a gift for one of our bridal or baby registries you are welcome to call and place an order via telephone.

We will explore different cooking techniques during each class to help you expand your culinary knowledge and inspire you at home when preparing meals. Our first class is scheduled SATURDAY, JANUARY, 28, 2012 and we will explore Essential Cooking Techniques : Sautéing and creating quick pan sauces. Classes are free and will be scheduled on Saturdays at 10:30am. They will be one hour long. Participants will enjoy tastings of prepared dishes! Class size is limited and REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Call Shelby's to reserve your spot in our new Cooking Technique Class.

A Message to Future Newlyweds: We appreciate your business and would like to thank you for thinking of us when planning your future home. Our bridal registries are one of our favorite parts of the store. We can help you find everything you need to decorate your new home and fully stock your new kitchen. Bridal tables are set up two weeks before the first shower and will be displayed until two o’clock on the afternoon of the wedding.In order to better serve our customers, it will be the responsibility of the individual special ordering any china, crystal or flatware to purchase any or all of the items remaining. All credit given for returned items must be used within six months, and can be used toward payment on your special order merchandise. Furthermore, couples that register with us will receive a 10% discount on all purchases made for one year after the date of your wedding. A Message to Soon-to-be-Parents:Congratulations on the new addition to your family! Shelby’s is a wonderful place to register for new little babies. We carry scrapbooks, room décor, OXO feeding utensils, swaddling blankets, burping cloths, shoes, toys, clothing from 0-24 months, accessories, and much more. Your table will go up two weeks before your first shower and will be taken down on the day of your last shower. Any gift that is not purchased before the date of your last shower will be written down and kept on record for friends of family members that continue to shower your little one with gifts during this special time. A Message to Friends and Family: Here at Shelbys we like to make it as easy as possible for friends and family to purchase gifts for their loved ones. We offer multiple advantages including free gift wrapping. Shelbys will also hold all gifts to be delivered on the Friday before the shower. This allows you to send a gift even if you are unable to attend the shower. Lastly, if you are from out of town, Shelbys is able to take orders over the phone for all of our registries. We strive to make this an easy experience for both you and the recipient.

Shelby's Kitchen

Starting on Saturday, January 28, 2012 Shelby's is offering a Cooking Technique Class. These classes are free and will run about an hour long. Each class will cover a different technique to expand your culinary knowledge and creativity. Classes will be held on Saturdays at 10:30am. Due to limited space, classes are limited and registration is required. Please call to reserve your spot. Pumpkin Harvest Bars

ingredients1 box yellow cake mix8 tbsp butter, melted4 tbsp butter, cut into pieces3 eggs1 Jar Stonewall Kitchen Maple Pumpkin Butter2 tbsp milk1 tbsp flour1/4 cup sugar1 tsp cinnamon (+/- to taste)directions1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9"x13" baking dish. Reserve 1 cup cake mix in a small bowl.2. Mix 8 tbsp melted butter and cake mix before spreading in the baking dish. Mix Maple Pumpkin Butter, eggs and milk. Pour on top of cake batter mixture.3. Mix 1 cup reserve cake mix, flour, sugar and cinnamon and cut in 4 tbsp butter. Sprinkle on top of mixture in baking dish.4. Bake 40 minutes, until lightly brown and let cool. Cut in small bars, as these are deliciously rich.nice additionsChopped pecans or walnuts sprinkled on top before baking and/or whipped cream dolloped on top when serving.

Sweet Potato Casserole

ingredients3 cups sweet potatoes, baked and mashed1/2 cup Stonewall Kitchen Roasted Garlic Onion Jam1/2 tsp. vanilla1/2 cup butter, melted1 cup sugar2 eggs beaten1/2 cup bread crumbs, toasted and buttered**optional** 1 cup caramelized onionsdirections1. In a large mixing bowl, beat together all ingredients except for caramelized onions and bread crumbs.2. Lightly grease a 9"x9" baking dish and pour mixture into dish.3. Cover potatoes with caramelized onions, if using.4. Sprinkle top with toasted bread crumbs.5. Bake uncovered in preheated, 350°F oven for 30-40 minutes or until brown and bubbly.6. Serve immediately. (Serves 4-6)recipe tipsThis dish can be made a day ahead. Cover and refrigerate; then cook as directed.

Warm Pumpkin Pecan Cake

ingredients2 cups flour1 1/2 cups sugar4 tsp. baking powder1 tsp. salt1 cup buttermilk1 1/2 tsp. vanilla2 sticks (1cup) butter, melted2 cups pecans1 jar Stonewall Kitchen Maple Pumpkin Butterdirections1. Grease a 9"x13" baking pan with shortening.2. Preheat oven to 325°F.3. Excluding the Maple Pumpkin Butter, mix all the other ingredients well. Batter will be firm.4. Spread in prepared pan.5. Spread Maple Pumpkin Butter over batter.6. Bake until bubbles have risen to the top and cake feel firm to the touch, approximately 55-60 minutes. Atoothpick should come out clean when inserted.7. Transfer to a rack to cool.recipe tipServe with whipped cream. Serves 12-16

Roasted Garlic Onion Jam Pizza

ingredients1 thin pizza crust (12" Boboli)3 Tbsp. Stonewall Kitchen Roasted Garlic Onion Jam1/2 cup Blue cheese (or Feta, Goat or any cheese)directions1. Preheat oven to 450°F.2. Spread the Roasted Garlic Onion Jam evenly over crust.3. Sprinkle cheese over entire top of the pizza.4. Bake 8-10 minutes until cheese is melted and jame begins to bubble.Serves 4-6

BBQ Steak Wrap-Ups

ingredientsmarinade1/4 cup soy sauce1/2 cup red wine1/4 cup olive or canola oil2 pounds flank steak, trimmed of fat1/3 cup Stonewall Kitchen Maple Chiplotle Grille SauceFor serving flat bread or thick tortillas, warmed in aluminum foil over the gril or in a preheated ovencilantro leavesgrilled onionsdirections1. In a small bowl, combine marinade ingredients. Place the flank steak in a shallow non-reactive baking dish and pour marinade over the steak; coat evenly. cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.2. Prepare a charcoal or gas fire. Remove the steak from the marinade, pat dry and discard marinade. Grill the steak to desired doneness, approximately 5-6 minutes per side for medium rare, brushing each side with Maple Chipotle Grille Sauce. Allow the steak to rest for 5 minutes before slicing. This helps keep the meat tender and succulent.3. Cut thin slices of steak against the grain and at an angle.4. Serve flank steak rolled up in a piece of warmed flat bread, with a spoonful of grilled onions, sprinkling of cilantro leaves and a final drizzle of Maple Chipotle Grille Sauce. *serves 4

Corn & Black Bean Salad

ingredients1 jar Stonewall Kitchen Spicy Corn Relish1-15oz. can black beans, rinsed and drained1 ripe avocado, peeled, cored and cut into 1/2"cubes3/4 cup cherry tomatoes, quartered4 oz. Monterey Jake cheese, cut into 1/4" cubesdirections1. Combine all ingredients, toss and serve.
